The Waterboys Confirms Extensive North American Tour Supporting “Rapture-Inducing” (Telegraph) New LP Out April 7
TOURING BAND INCLUDED SAME MUSICIANS WHO PLAYED ON RECORD, INCLUDING MUSCLE SHOALS LEGEND DAVID HOOD
Behind their first LP of original songs in eight years ‘Modern Blues,’ The Waterboys have confirmed an extensive US tour. Waterboys founder/frontman Mike Scott will be joined on all dates by the same musicians who played on the record including legendary Muscle Shoals bassist David Hood (in his first tour since playing with Traffic in 1972), soul deep Texas guitarist Zach Ernst (Black Joe Lewis, The Relatives), drummer Ralph Salmins (Van Morrison), longtime Waterboys fiddler Steve Wickham, and Memphis keyboardist “Brother” Paul Brown. Full itinerary below. The bands’ show last week in London drew 5-star reviews from The Daily Mail (“the sound was big, warm, and accomplished”) and The Times (“sensational…an heroic performance”).
‘Modern Blues’ is out in the US April 7th via Harlequin and Clown/Kobalt. Check out this video of The Waterboys performing album standout “November Tale” live: http://www.mikescottwaterboys.com/
‘Modern Blues’ was released in the UK in January to raves. The Telegraph deemed it “rapture inducing” and MOJO gave it 4-stars, calling it “the best Waterboys record since 1988’s ‘Fisherman’s Blues.’”
Tickets are on sale Friday at 10AM for their May 18 show at The Fillmore!
